A cow peacefully grazes in a farmer’s field on Canada’s Niagara Peninsula, unaware that one of its ancestors was part of Canadian folklore.
Laura Ingersoll was born in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. In 1795, she moved with her family to the Queenston area of Upper Canada, where she married James Secord and began a family.
When the War of 1812-1814 broke out, Laura Secord did not realize she was about to step into the pages of Canadian history. All that was on her mind at the time was that she was the only person to convey valuable information, and she accepted the challenge.
Here is Laura’s story in the form of her personal diary, minus the cow, which was a myth. The real story is even more phenomenal.
