In the Shadow of the Falcon

THE FALCON IS A DANGEROUS BIRD OF PREY, AND IN ITS SHADOW IS A DANGEROUS PLACE TO LIVE

Jane Parker is best known as the wife of George Boleyn, and the sister-in-law of Anne Boleyn. There is evidence that  history has distorted the character Viscountess Rochford in the most unkind way. She is portrayed in fiction and popular culture as an evil, vindictive and jealous wife, and the sister-in-law of a manipulating Queen. In reality, both women were the unfortunate pawns in a game of a maniacal King and those he placed in power.

The story of Jane Parker Boleyn is also the story of the Tudors and the people aligned with them, and this dazzling period in the history of England. Jane was eyewitness to it, and Jane unwittingly helped to shape it.

Jane Boleyn lived her life in the shadow of her sister-in-law, Queen Anne Boleyn, whose emblem was a white and gold falcon, wearing a crown, clutching a sceptre, and perched in a clump of Tudor roses.

How did Jane, the Vicountess Rochford, ultimately find herself with her head on the executioner’s block on Tower Green?
Let her tell you, in her own words.
